In 2017, the Iowa State University Greek Community became a Champion Statewide Partner with Special Olympics Iowa. The Greek Community are the sole participants in the annual Ames Greek Polar Bear Plunge. The event takes place as part of their Greek Week.

The Greeks continue to shine as Special Olympics Iowa’s largest fundraising group. The 2017 Polar Bear Plunge raised $377,132.94, a record high for the single largest one-day fundraising event for Special Olympics Iowa. The event wouldn’t be possible without the passion and dedication of the Iowa State Greek students!
