Sponsors include MD Orthopaedics, Hy-Vee, Radio Stations 97.3, KQ92 and KKMI 93.4, and  Sentry Scuba

Where:  Geode State Park in Danville, Iowa

 Background:

Special Olympics Iowa is hosting a Polar Plunge in Southeast Iowa, making it one of 13 locations in the state of Iowa to hold this event annually. Currently, Ames, Davenport, Des Moines, Dubuque, Cedar Rapids, Council Bluffs, Ft. Dodge, Indianola, Iowa City, Northwest Iowa, Southeast Iowa, Waterloo, and Sioux City each hold their own Polar Plunge.  Participants will jump into the lake at Geode State Park in groups of 10 or more. Participants can either recruit a team of 10 or be placed on a team the day of the Plunge.

When a “plunger” raises a minimum of $75 in pledges they receive an official long-sleeve polar bear T-shirt and admission to the post-plunge party. The more money a plunger raises, the more prizes they receive. Special prizes will be given to: the Polar Bear who raises the most money, the team with the best costume, and Polar Bear with the best costume.

Too chicken to take the plunge? No problem! Register as a chicken and raise pledges to receive your chicken T-shirt and incentives, and then watch the plunge! Prizes will be awarded to the chicken that raises the most money.
