Special Olympics Iowa is holding its annual State Equestrian Competition at the Jester Park Equestrian Center in Granger on Saturday, September 15. “More than 80 athletes from across Iowa will participate in this event,” said Special Olympics Iowa Vice President of Program, Pam Wagner. “It is an exciting day for the athletes and gives them the chance to display their skills and showmanship in various activities throughout the day.”
Wagner noted she is especially pleased to have student volunteers from Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls returning again this year to help make the event a success. “Many of the student volunteers have grown up with horses and have the expertise to help with the event,” she said. “We also encourage the public to attend and cheer for the athletes.”
