Tip A Cop fundraiser for Special Olympics Iowa Nov. 20

What: Law
enforcement officials fill beverages and bus tables for donations to benefit programs for Special Olympics Iowa that
provide training and sports competition to more than 11,350 SOIA athletes with
intellectual disabilities and their Unified Sports Partners.
Who:
Officials from the Black Hawk County Sherriff’s Office, local law
enforcement officials and Special Olympics Iowa athletes will also serve as
hosts.
When: 5-10 p.m. - Friday, November 20

Background:
Local law enforcement officials from the Black Hawk County Sherriff’s
office will be busing tables and filling beverages at Texas Roadhouse on Friday
November 20 in an effort to raise money for Special Olympics Iowa.
Erin McKeown, Director of Special Events for Special Olympics Iowa, said
aside from the donations received there are more benefits to hosting this
event. “Tip A Cop gives Texas Roadhouse and its customers a chance to see their
law enforcement officers in a different light,” McKeown said. “Texas Roadhouse
also gets an opportunity to show the community that they are supporting a
worthy cause.”
This is the first time for this fundraiser and the first time Special
Olympics Iowa has teamed up with Texas Roadhouse in Cedar Falls. Special
Olympics Iowa also hopes to raise awareness by having Special Olympics Iowa
athletes and their family members present to serve as hosts.
